The Turning of the Stone - 5th of November!
So it's nearly time to "TURN THAT STONE" - always on the 5th of November.
Every 5 November in Shebbear, Devon, the village bell ringers gather to turn the "Devil's Stone" — a 500–700 kg boulder said to keep the Devil at bay and securing good fortune for the coming year.
Food will be available outside the front of the pub from The North Devon Hog Roast and The Whiddon Wagon Fish & Chips van will be in the square as usual but note they have extended their serving times. The pub will be open for drinks only.
Live music (weather dependent) from The Littleham Howlers from 6.30pm – they will have their donation buckets out and will be raising funds for “Harbour” a local charity.
8pm - it's time to "Turn that Stone" - for those that have not been before this takes place outside the Church Hall, although you will see the crowds :)
After this, the village have been declared safe for another year!
